Vinyasa Flow

Commonly considered a gentle form of yoga, vinyasa flow is characterised by combining multiple movements while focusing on your breath and poses. Vinyasa classes include a wide range of postures, and no two classes are ever alike.

In this class you will experience a free flow that resembles a dance, with the breath serving as your partner. Join the classes to unwind from everyday life, improve your breath work, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is a style of yoga that encourages physical, mental and emotional relaxation. Appropriate for all levels, restorative yoga is practised at a slow pace while focusing on long holds, stillness and deep breathing.

Unlike more active yoga styles such as Vinyasa or Bikram, you can expect to hold a pose for five minutes or more. Only a handful of poses will be performed in restorative yoga sessions and the coaches will position students into passive poses with bolsters, blankets and blocks.

You will also receive a cold eucalyptus scented towel at the end of your class, leaving you feeling fresh and rejuvenated.

Yin Yoga

Had a big week of training? Yin Yoga is the perfect way to unwind as it incorporates principles of traditional Chinese medicine and is a slow-paced style of yoga. The poses are held for up to five minutes, which allows you to lengthen and stretch the muscles on a deeper level.

In comparison to Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga has more emphasis on flexibility, boosting circulation and reducing tension. Leave the CHANGE studio feeling relaxed and ready to conquer the world after a session.

Strength Endurance

Strength endurance refers to the ability of a muscle or group of muscles to maintain the ability to perform repeated or sustained contractions over a period of time. It is a combination of muscular strength and endurance, where the muscle is able to maintain a certain level of force for an extended period. Improving strength endurance can lead to improved athletic performance, better posture and reduced risk of injury.

Hypertrophy

Hypertrophy refers to an increase in the size of muscle fibres. It is a result of repeated resistance training, such as weightlifting, that leads to an increase in the size of individual muscle fibres. This increased size leads to increased strength and power output. There are two types of hypertrophy: sarcoplasmic hypertrophy, which leads to an increase in the fluid around muscle fibres, and myofibrillar hypertrophy, which leads to an increase in the size of contractile proteins within the muscle fibres. The type of hypertrophy that occurs depends on the type and intensity of the resistance training performed.

Max Strength

Max strength refers to the highest amount of force a muscle or muscle group can generate in a single, all-out effort. It is a measure of the maximum capacity of the nervous and muscular systems to work together to produce force. Max strength is important for various athletic and daily activities that require quick and powerful movements, such as jumping, throwing or lifting heavy objects. Improving max strength can lead to increased power and improved athletic performance, as well as reduced risk of injury. Training to increase max strength typically involves heavy resistance training with low reps and long rest periods.

CV Lactate

Cardiovascular lactate training refers to a type of training that aims to improve the body’s ability to tolerate and clear lactate, a by-product of glucose metabolism during exercise. During high-intensity exercise, lactate can accumulate in the muscles and bloodstream, leading to fatigue and decreased performance. Cardiovascular lactate training involves performing high-intensity exercise at or near the point where lactate begins to accumulate in the bloodstream, which is known as the lactate threshold. By regularly training at or near the lactate threshold, the body adapts and becomes better at clearing lactate, allowing for longer and more intense exercise. This type of training is typically used by endurance athletes, such as runners and cyclists, to improve their performance in endurance events.

You will also receive a cold eucalyptus scented towel at the end of your class, leaving you feeling fresh and rejuvenated.

CV Endurance

Cardiovascular endurance training refers to physical activity that improves the function of the heart, lungs and blood vessels to transport oxygen to the muscles, enabling them to work for longer periods of time without fatigue. This type of training can help increase aerobic capacity, stamina and overall endurance. Common forms of cardiovascular endurance training include running, cycling, swimming and rowing. The intensity and duration of the training can vary depending on an individual’s fitness level, but typically involves performing moderate to high-intensity aerobic exercise for an extended period of time. Improving cardiovascular endurance can lead to improved athletic performance, increased energy levels and better overall health.
